INVESTIGATIVE  HYPNOSIS 

   (T A I H)  

The Texas Association for Investigative Hypnosis (TAIH) is a nonprofit organization with the officers and board of directors being nominated and voted to serve for a 1 year term, with the exception of the President, who progresses from the vice presidents position, and the president automatically moves to Advisor to the Board of Directors at completion of term. No officer or board member receives any compensation or travel expenses. All expenditures are reviewed annually by a committee and presented to the members in the form of an itemitzed report.    

The primary mission of TAIH is to disseminate current information and provide training to its members on a variety of hypnosis related topics with the primary focus and emphasis on the forensic application involving police officers with witnesses and victims to crimes.  

In 1987 members of TAIH were directly responsible for getting  hypnosis legislation passed governing its use by law enforcement in Texas. No individual, association, or organization outside of Texas participated in this effort. Texas is the first and only state in the USA which requires mandatory training, testing, and certification, as mandated by legislation, of police officers who use hypnotic interviewing techniques. Some TAIH members spent many hours contacting legislators and testifying before various committees for the passage of this law, at their own personal expense.  

Hypnotic refreshed recall is admissible in civil cases and criminal cases by both the prosecution and defense in Texas.  Information contained in records maintained by the Texas Association for Investigative Hypnosis since the formation, reflects the following persons have served as officers and board members.
